Accountancy Services

At our core, we are a chartered accountancy practice.  We offer a full range of services to our clients who run their businesses as sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, limited liability partnerships (LLP’s), charities or community interest companies (CIC’s).  The following table lists and describes our core accountancy services.

All businesses are required to keep accurate records for both taxation and VAT purposes. We will explain what records are required and consider what your accounting information needs are, all in relation to the resources you have available; to ensure you have a bookkeeping service that suits you and your requirements.

We offer a range of options including processing your paperwork and receipts for you. More importantly we can remove the hassle of bookkeeping by preparing management accounts to help you  control your finances, plan for future growth and ensure that your accounts are completed more efficiently.

With our support, you can improve the performance of your business by having convenient and easy access to your accounts. We can help you identify profitable and unprofitable goods or services and surpluses and deficits in resources by allowing you to review your finances, customer and supplier balances and stock and staffing levels.

If you are self-employed, a partner in a partnership or a company director, you are required to complete an annual self-assessment return to HMRC.  There are complex considerations during the HMRC tax returns process, we simplify the process by completing your tax return for you.

As part of our service we will calculate your tax liability, file the return and liaise with you on the amounts to be paid and when they are due. We will also analyse your tax return to see where we can make tax savings for you so your tax liability is minimised as much as possible.

At the end of your financial year, your limited company must prepare statutory annual accounts and a Company Tax Return. The accounts and tax return must meet the deadlines for filing with Companies House and HMRC, and they will also be used to determine how much Corporation Tax to pay.

As your accountant, Purple Books can prepare your statutory annual accounts for you and these will be produced in accordance with accepted accounting standards. This will include preparing a balance sheet, a profit and loss account, notes on the accounts and a director’s report.

We will also prepare your Company Tax Return ensuring you have claimed for everything you are entitled to and take advantage of any tax planning opportunities available. This will ensure you reduce your tax liabilities, boost the profitability of your business and maximise your personal wealth.

You are required to register for VAT with HMRC if your business – whether as a sole trader, partnership or limited company – has VAT taxable turnover over HMRC’s threshold. Once registered, you must charge the right amount of VAT, keep VAT records, submit VAT Returns and pay any VAT due to HMRC.

We help you decide whether you need to be VAT registered and also monitor your financial situation so you register for VAT when it becomes obligatory. In addition we will look at the different VAT schemes and help establish which would be most suitable for your type of business.

Purple books will also prepare your VAT returns from your bookkeeping records so you meet HMRC deadlines and avoid late penalties and any interest chargeable. We will ensure you claim as much VAT as possible, in order to minimise your VAT liability. As your agent for VAT purposes, we can file your VAT Returns with HMRC and advise you of any payment due.

If your business employs staff, or as a director of a limited company, you are looking to pay yourself a salary, then you will need a payroll system and register with HMRC’s PAYE system, to pay Income Tax and National Insurance where required.

We can help you register with HMRC and run your payroll system for you, in line with HMRC’s Real Time Information (RTI) submission requirements. With RTI, employers must share pay information with HMRC when or before payments are made to employees. Our payroll software will maintain your employee records, record pay, make deductions and report to HMRC and provide pay slips.

The responsibilities faced as an employer can be daunting, we will guide you through the processes, costs, calculations and deadlines and take care of everything for you.

Taxes are a statutory obligation for both businesses and individuals.  Within the legal framework there are numerous ways to efficiently make savings when short and long term goals are considered.

At Purple Books, we endeavor to apply tax legislation and case law to minimise your tax liability, while factoring in your business and personal plan over the short and long term.

Groups structures offer multiple benefits when it comes to risk mitigation, investment and tax planning.

At purple books we design  and implement group structures for individuals and businesses based on their current needs and future aspirations.

As our client we will typically approach you when we think this type of structure is appropriate and suitable.

If you would like specific advice and help setting up a group structure – please contact us, we will be delighted to help.
